EMPHASIS: Traffic Congestion On I-70 At The Sni-A-Bar Creek Bridge East Of Grain Valley

Captain Scott A. Shipers, commanding officer Troop A, Lee’s Summit, would like to remind motorists to anticipate traffic congestion on Interstate 70 east of Grain Valley due to the Sni-A-Bar Creek bridge construction. The construction is effecting both the eastbound and westbound lanes of Interstate 70. Depending upon the amount of traffic throughout the day motorists should expect some delay and should plan for it accordingly by leaving early for their destination or finding an alternate route around the affected area.
Troop A has dedicated additional troopers in the area to monitor traffic flow, assist stranded motorists, and strictly enforce traffic laws. Motorists are reminded the right shoulder is to be utilized for emergencies only; it is illegal for motorists to pass a vehicle on the right and travel off the main portion of the roadway.
“The Missouri State Highway Patrol is dedicated to ensuring the safety of the motoring public,” stated Captain Shipers. “We realize the inconvenience the bridge repair has posed to motorists, and we ask those traveling in the area of Sni-A-Bar Creek to be patient and courteous drivers.” The bridge repair is scheduled to be complete on September 9, 2015, barring any inclement weather delays.
Approximately 63 percent of Missouri fatal crash victims who are required to be restrained are NOT at the time of the traffic crash. The Patrol urges motorists to protect themselves and their passengers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint.
