EMPHASIS: Results Of Commercial Motor Vehicle Enforcement Operations Conducted In Marion County During The Months Of September and October 2014

Captain James E. Wilt, commanding officer of Troop B, Macon, announces the results of commercial motor vehicle enforcement operations conducted on September 28, 2014 and October 12, 2014, in Marion County. During the SAFETE enforcement operations, which were funded by the Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program, officers focused their attention on commercial motor vehicle operations. Officers conducted 16 commercial motor vehicle inspections and placed one vehicle and a driver out of service. The following is a list of enforcement contacts made during the operations:

1-- Felony Drug arrest.
1-- Misdemeanor drug arrest.
1-- Misdemeanor warrant arrest.
1-- Other misdemeanor criminal arrest.
11-- Citations were issued for exceeding the speed limit.
5-- Citations were issued for commercial motor vehicle violations.
1-- Citation was issued for a non-moving violation.
1-- Citation was issued for an insurance violation.
1-- Citation was issued for a driver's license violation.

"Traffic enforcement operations such as these are very important in keeping our highways safe," stated Captain Wilt. "Special enforcement operations are conducted throughout the year in an effort to reduce traffic crashes."
In support of "The Drive To ZERO Highway Deaths," the Patrol encourages motorists to protect themselves and their passengers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Watercraft operators should ensure that everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life And Wear It!!
