EMPHASIS: Results of S.T.E.P Operation In St. Louis County
Captain Ronald S. Johnson, commanding officer of Troop C, Weldon Spring, is pleased to announce the results of a recent enforcement detail entitled “S.T.E.P.” (Selective Traffic Enforcement Program) The purpose of Operation S.T.E.P. is to aggressively enforce hazardous moving, alcohol, and speed violations that contribute to traffic crashes.
Operation S.T.E.P was conducted on Monday, July 26, 2010, in St. Louis County, Missouri. This eight-hour project was conducted by four officers, who focused their enforcement efforts on identifying hazardous motor vehicle operations and impaired driving conditions. During the operation, a total of 56 vehicles were stopped. Of those stopped, 46 drivers were either arrested or issued a summons, and 41 warnings were issued. Fourteen subjects were issued summonses for speed violations, 15 subjects for other moving and non-violations, six subjects for seat belt violations, eight subjects for uninsured motorist’s violations, and three subjects were issued summonses for driver license violations. In addition, one subject was arrested for an outstanding warrant.
"Our goal was to positively impact traffic problems in St. Louis County by reducing traffic crashes through aggressive enforcement,” stated Captain Johnson. "I feel we accomplished this goal.”
