EMPHASIS: Troop I Announces Results Of Phelps County DWI Saturation
Captain Randy L. Becker, commanding officer of Troop I, announces the results of a DWI saturation patrol conducted in Phelps County from 7 p.m., June 27, 2008, until 3 a.m., June 28, 2008. During the operation, troopers placed special emphasis on patrolling those highways where in the past a higher number of impaired drivers were either involved in a traffic crash or arrested for DWI.
During the enforcement operation troopers stopped 45 vehicles, and issued 22 citations and 47 warnings. The following is a breakdown of the arrests:
DWI: 1
Speeding: 9
Failure To Wear A Seat Belt: 8
Driver’s License Violation: 1
No Proof Of Insurance: 2
Misdemeanor Warrant Arrest: 1
“In 2006, nearly 25 percent of all the fatalities on Missouri’s highways were alcohol related,” said Captain Becker. “If you see what appears to be an impaired driver on a Missouri highway, or you need to report an emergency, please dial the Patrol’s emergency hotline, 1-800-525-5555 or * 55 on your cellular phone.”
