EMPHASIS: Troop I Raises Nearly $9,000 For SOMO In 2008

The employees of Troop I would like to thank the many citizens and participating Wal-Mart stores for once again helping make this year such a success in raising funds for Special Olympics of Missouri (SOMO).
As in the past, Wal-Mart graciously welcomed Highway Patrol employees to use their facilities to sell the SOMO Torch Run T-shirts and visors. Troop I raised a total of $8,768, which is about $1,000 more than 2007. Following the events, several of the Wal-Mart stores also donated up to $1,000 to SOMO in honor of Troop I.
Captain Lee Ann H. Kenley, commanding officer of Troop I stated, “ The employees of Troop I who helped make this another successful year should be commended, but the real praise should go to the public and Wal-Mart stores. This clearly shows the benevolent hearts of our citizens and their desire to help those who are less fortunate.”
