EMPHASIS: Patrol Helicopter Assists In Search Of Missing Juvenile In Howard County
On Feburary 24, 2016, Howard County Sheriff’s Department requested assistance from the Patrol’s Aircraft Division in locating a missing juvenile. The juvenile was reported missing from a residence in rural Howard County, near County Road 108. Troopers from the Howard and Boone counties, along with a canine unit from Cooper County responded to the scene. The Patrol’s helicopter, equipped with a ‘FLIR’ (forward-looking infrared) thermal imaging device was requested to respond.
At approximately 10:25 a.m., Patrol pilots began an aerial search in helicopter 93MP. At 11:27 a.m., the juvenile was located near a residence on Missouri Route Y, approximately one-half mile from the original location. The Patrol pilot directed officers to the scene. The juvenile was evaluated by a local ambulance service and turned over to a guardian.
The case is being handled by the Howard County Sheriff's Department.
