EMPHASIS: Results Of DWI Checkpoint In Jefferson County


Captain Ronald S. Johnson, commanding officer of Troop C, announces the results of a sobriety checkpoint conducted on Saturday evening, March 21, 2015. The checkpoint was held from 10 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, to 3 a.m. on Sunday, March 22, 2015, and was located at Missouri Highway 141 and 13th Street, Jefferson County. The location was determined by past arrests, incidents, and traffic crashes in the county.

A total of 449 vehicles were stopped during this five-hour operation. Members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol made the following enforcement contacts:

5 -- DWI arrests
1 -- uninsured motorist summons
4 -- non-moving summonses
1 -- seat belt summons
1 -- C&I summons
3 -- driving while revoked summonses
4 -- drug arrests
2 -- warrant arrests
48 -- warnings issued

Captain Johnson stated, "The focus of law enforcement is to enforce all laws and apprehend violators. The goal of DWI enforcement projects is to deter impaired driving and to make citizens aware that drinking and driving will not be tolerated."

In support of “The Drive To ZERO Highway Deaths,” the Patrol encourages motorists to protect themselves and their passengers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint.
