EMPHASIS: The Missouri State Highway Patrol Seeks Candidates For Its 100th Recruit Class

The nationally accredited Missouri State Highway Patrol, one of the most recognized and respected law enforcement agencies in the nation, is accepting candidates for the 100th Recruit Class. This class of new troopers will represent the 100th training class since the Patrol’s inception in 1931. Over the years, the Missouri State Highway Patrol has adapted to the challenges of law enforcement and highway safety. It has established itself as a leader by hiring and training a diverse workforce of men and women interested in representing the state of Missouri and serving the public. Qualified individuals from all demographics are welcomed and encouraged to apply. The application deadline is April 4, 2014.

Candidates are required to meet minimum requirements by the time the recruit class begins on January 5, 2015. The minimum requirements are: possession of 60 college credits, or two years federal (Title 10) active duty military service with an honorable discharge, or two years of POST-certified, full-time law enforcement service. The starting salary for trooper is $3,137 per month while in training. Additional increases are subject to annual appropriations. Troopers become eligible for advancement in rank after five years of service. Currently, Troopers with five years of service earn $47,484 annually.

In commemoration of the 100th Recruit Class and this milestone in the history of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a special Recruit Patch Brochure was created. The brochure contains historical information about and photographs of Patrol recruit training. A copy of the Recruit Patch Brochure can be found with this news release on the Patrol's website.

The selection process for the 100th Recruit Class consists of written examination, fitness test, polygraph examination, background investigation, vision and hearing tests, psychological examination, medical exam, and drug test.

Interested individuals can contact a recruiter at 1-800-796-7000, or visit www.motrooper.com to apply online.
