EMPHASIS: Special Enforcement Operations Scheduled During Memorial Day Weekend

Captain Lee Ann H. Kenley, commanding officer of Troop I, announces that during the Memorial Day weekend Troop I officers will once again be participating in special enforcement operations with the objective of reducing traffic crashes.
Throughout the weekend, troopers within Troop I and throughout the state will be participating in Operation C.A.R.E. (Combined Accident Reduction Effort). In conjunction with Operation C.A.R.E., Troop I will also be participating in the statewide 20-Mile Trooper Project during the peak travel periods on Friday, May 27, and Monday, May 30. During that operation, Troop I will have troopers assigned to 20 mile stretches of Interstate 44. Those troopers will be tasked with vigorously enforcing all traffic laws and helping any motorist that may be needing assistance. This year's counting period will begin at 6:00 p.m., Friday, May 27, and will run until midnight, Monday, May 30, 2011.
Captain Kenley stated, “Memorial Day weekend is the traditional kick-off to the summer months and I hope that you and your friends and family have the chance to enjoy this period. I encourage all Missourians to please make safety a priority as you take to our highways and waterways.”
