EMPHASIS: Results Of STEP Operation In Ray County

Captain Robert L. Powell, commanding officer of Troop A, announces the results of a Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (S.T.E.P.), which was conducted in Ray County. The goal of the operation was for troopers to saturate all major highways in Ray County and enforce all laws related to speed, driving while intoxicated, seat belt compliance, and hazardous moving violations.
On June 12, 2009, three officers worked a 12-hour operation in Ray County. As a result of the operation, one person was arrested on a felony warrant and 13 citations were issued. In addition, 60 warnings were issued.
Captain Powell stated, “Our officers are working hard to make the roadways safe for the motoring public and to reduce fatality crashes. You can help save lives by paying attention to the job of driving, wearing your seat belt, not speeding, and not drinking and driving.”
