EMPHASIS: May Enforcement Projects Scheduled For Troop D

Captain Juan Villanueva, commanding officer of Troop D, Springfield, announces that sometime during the month of May 2010, driving while intoxicated saturations will be held in McDonald and Christian counties along with a sobriety checkpoint in Barry County.

“The Missouri State Highway Patrol is committed to removing intoxicated drivers from our highways,” said Captain Villanueva. “Saturations and sobriety checkpoints are part of the Patrol’s strategy to make Missouri’s roadways safer.”

In addition, troopers will be conducting a hazardous moving violations project in Newton County sometime during the month of May. The primary goal of this project is to positively impact traffic problems by reducing crashes. The objectives are to heighten the awareness of the risks associated with impaired driving and increase compliance of the speed limit and seat belt laws. The assigned troopers will focus efforts in high crash areas along U.S. Highway 71.
