EMPHASIS: Results Of Sobriety Checkpoint Conducted In Clark County

Captain James E. Wilt, commanding officer of Troop B, Macon, announces the results of a sobriety checkpoint conducted in Clark County.

On May 12, 2012, members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Clark County Sheriff's Department conducted a sobriety checkpoint on U.S. Highway 61/U.S. Highway 136, approximately three tenths of a mile south of the Iowa border, in Clark County. As a result of the checkpoint, which began at 11:00 p.m. on May 12, 2012, and concluded at 3:00 a.m. on May 13, 2012, officers checked 190 vehicles, made 20 arrests, and issued 5 warnings. The following is a list of enforcement contacts during the checkpoint:

2 -- Citations for child restraint violations
5 -- Citations for non-moving violations
4 -- Citations for driver’s license violations
1 -- Citation for an insurance violation
6 -- Arrests for misdemeanor drug violations
1 -- Arrest for a misdemeanor warrant
1 -- Arrest for a felony criminal violation

"The Missouri State Highway Patrol takes drinking and driving very seriously," stated Captain Wilt. "The Patrol will be holding other special enforcement operations throughout the year in an effort to make our highways safer. If drinking alcohol is part of your plans, choose a designated driver."
