EMPHASIS: Results Of Boating While Intoxicated Saturations Conducted In Troop B

Captain James E. Wilt, commanding officer of Troop B, Macon, announces the results of four boating while intoxicated saturations conducted on Long Branch Lake, Mark Twain Lake, Thomas Hill Lake, and the Mississippi River. The saturations were held on June 30th, July 1st, July 4th, and July 7th, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. each day. The goal of these enforcement operations was to detect impaired boat operators, hazardous boat operation, and other hazardous boating violations that contribute to boating crashes.

As a result of the operations, officers issued 11 citations, made two drug arrests, and issued 51 warnings. Officers also conducted eight safety equipment inspections. Of the citations issued, two were issued for equipment violations, and nine were issued for marine moving violations.

"Boating is a fun recreational activity, but safety must be a priority," stated Captain Wilt. "Always make sure each boat passenger has a life jacket available, and never operate any type of watercraft after consuming alcohol."
