EMPHASIS: Troop I Announces Memorial Day Weekend Enforcement Operations

Captain Lee Ann H. Kenley, commanding officer of Troop I, announces that during the Memorial Day weekend, Troop I officers will once again be participating in special enforcement operations with the objective of reducing traffic crashes.
Throughout the weekend, troopers within Troop I and throughout the state will be participating in Operation C.A.R.E. (Combined Accident Reduction Effort). Additional enforcement projects include the statewide 20-Mile Trooper project and High Enforcement Contact Teams. Troop I's High Enforcement Contact Teams will be assigned to patrol secondary highways during the peak travel periods on Friday, May 24, and Monday, May 27, 2013. The 20-Mile Trooper project consists of troopers being assigned to 20-mile stretches of Interstate 44. The troopers assigned to both projects will be tasked with vigorously enforcing all traffic laws and helping any motorist that needs assistance. These officers are in addition to those who will be assigned regular patrol duties over the holiday weekend. This year's counting period will begin at 6 p.m., Friday, May 24, and will run until 11:59 p.m., Monday, May 27, 2013.
Captain Kenley stated, “Memorial Day weekend is the traditional kick-off to the summer months. I hope that you, your friends, and your family have the chance to enjoy this period. I encourage all Missourians to please make safety a priority as you take to our highways and waterways.”
The Patrol encourages motorists and watercraft operators to protect themselves by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint and everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life and Wear It!!!
