EMPHASIS: Troop E Announces Results Of Sobriety Checkpoint

Captain George E. Ridens, commanding officer of Troop E, Poplar Bluff, announces the results of a sobriety checkpoint conducted in Cape Girardeau County on April 24, 2015. A total of 309 vehicles were stopped during the four-hour operation. Members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol made the following enforcement contacts:

2 -- Driving While Intoxicated Arrests
4 -- Seat Belt Summonses
2 -- Non-Moving Summonses
3 -- Driver’s License Summonses
1 -- Uninsured Motorist Summons
2 -- Drug Arrests
47 -- Warnings

The focus of law enforcement is to enforce all laws and apprehend violators. The goal of DWI enforcement projects is to deter impaired driving and to make citizens aware that drinking and driving will not be tolerated. To report a suspected impaired driver dial 9-1-1 or *55 on a cellular device.

In support of "The Drive To ZERO Highway Deaths," the Patrol encourages motorists to protect themselves and their passengers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Watercraft operators should ensure that everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 LifE And Wear It!!
