EMPHASIS: May Enforcement Projects In Troop A

Captain Robert L. Powell, commanding officer Troop A, Lee's Summit, announces a DWI checkpoint operation and two DWI saturations will be conducted in Jackson and Ray counties during the month of May.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol, along with the Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department, will be conducting a DWI checkpoint in Jackson County at some point during the month of May. This operation is an effort to remove intoxicated drivers from Missouri's highways. The checkpoint will consist of officers stopping drivers at a set location and testing those who have been drinking.
In addition to the checkpoint, the Missouri State Highway Patrol will also be conducting DWI saturations in Jackson and Ray counties in May. Troopers assigned to the saturation will concentrate their efforts on highways which have been found to have a high number of alcohol-related crashes and enforcement contacts.
Captain Powell stated, "Do not let your life or someone else's life be ruined by an alcohol-related crash or arrest. If you are going to drink, have a plan. Make sure that plan includes a designated driver."
All citizens are urged to report any driver they observe operating a vehicle in an unsafe manner. The public can contact the Missouri State Highway Patrol toll-free at 1-800-525-5555 or *55 on their cellular phone.
