EMPHASIS: Drug Seizure, Missouri State Highway Patrol, Troop D.


On Monday, January 21, 2008, an eastbound 2001 Toyota Camry was stopped on Interstate 44 at Missouri Highway 744, in Greene County. After developing suspicion with indicators of criminal activity, consent to search was requested, but denied. A canine sniff resulted in a positive hit on the vehicle resulting in the discovery of 100 pounds of marijuana in the trunk of the vehicle.
The driver, Laura L. Aviles-Madero, of Phoenix, Arizona, was arrested for drug trafficking, and released to Greene County Sheriff’s Department.
The charge for which the above person is accused is a mere accusation and not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of this charge must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty it is to determine guilt or innocence.
