Troop E Announces Results Of Sobriety Checkpoint -- Cape Girardeau County
Captain Jeffrey N. Vitale, commanding officer of Troop E, Poplar Bluff, announces the results of a sobriety checkpoint conducted in Cape Girardeau County. The checkpoint was held on August 20, 2016, and a total of 269 vehicles were stopped during the four-hour operation. Members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol made the following enforcement contacts:
5 -- Driving While Intoxicated Arrests
4 -- Seat Belt Summonses
2 -- No Driver’s License Summonses
30 -- Warnings
1 -- Misdemeanor Drug Arrest
The goal of DWI enforcement projects is to deter impaired driving and to make citizens aware that drinking and driving will not be tolerated. To report a suspected impaired driver dial 9-1-1 or *55 on a cellular device.
The only 100 percent survivable crash is the one that never happens. Make sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Every day as we travel on Missouri’s roadways, we trust that every driver on the road is going to obey the speed limit, pay attention, and drive sober.
