EMPHASIS: Results Of Driving While Intoxicated Checkpoint


On September 5, 2009, a sobriety checkpoint was conducted in Buchanan County. A total of 18 troopers were assigned to the four-hour operation.
Troopers arrested one driver for driving while intoxicated, made four misdemeanor drug arrests and one misdemeanor warrant arrest, and issued nine summonses for other violations. Troopers also issued 19 warnings to motorists for minor violations. A total of 247 vehicles came through the checkpoint.
Captain Duane L. Robinson stated, “The sobriety checkpoint is an effective operation and only a minor inconvenience to the motoring public.”
