EMPHASIS: Troop I To Participate In Seat Belt Enforcement Campaign

Captain Lee Ann H. Kenley, commanding officer of Troop I, announces that on April 15, 2013, troopers will be conducting a “Click It Or Ticket” enforcement campaign throughout the six-county Troop I area. This operation is part of a national effort to help increase awareness of the importance of wearing a seat belt and properly restraining your child in a safety seat. It is estimated that seat belts save over 13,000 lives every year in the United States.
Captain Kenley stated, “A Missouri driver’s chance of being killed in a traffic crash if not wearing a seat belt is 42 times greater than that of a driver who is buckled up. Unfortunately, it is our troopers who routinely see the tragic outcome of this statistical fact. There are many good habits that one can practice, but few, if any, can so profoundly impact your life as the decision to buckle up.”
The Patrol encourages motorists and watercraft operators to protect themselves by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint and everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life and Wear It!!!
