Captain Ronald S. Johnson, commanding officer Troop C, Weldon Spring, is pleased to announce the results of a recent enforcement detail “Operation A.R.R.E.S.T.” (Alcohol Related Response Enforcement Strike Team). The purpose of Operation A.R.R.E.S.T. is to increase the motoring public’s awareness of the hazards of operating a motor vehicle while in an impaired condition.

Operation A.R.R.E.S.T. was conducted from 7 p.m. on Friday, June 26, 2015, to 3 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2015, in Jefferson County. This eight-hour project was conducted by six officers, who focused their enforcement efforts on identifying hazardous motor vehicle violations. "The Missouri State Highway Patrol is very serious about removing impaired drivers from our roadways," stated Captain Johnson. "If drinking alcohol is a part of your plans, please choose a sober designated driver."

Approximately 63 percent of Missouri fatal crash victims who are required to be restrained are NOT at the time of the traffic crash. The Patrol urges motorists to protect themselves and their passengers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint.
