EMPHASIS: Results Of Troop D DWI Sobriety Checkpoint In Greene County


Captain Juan Villanueva, commanding officer of Troop D, Springfield, announces the results of a DWI checkpoint conducted in Troop D, Greene County, on December 9, 2011. During the operation, troopers, along with officers from the Greene County Sheriff’s Department, were assigned to conduct a sobriety checkpoint in a continued effort to remove intoxicated drivers from the highways. Troopers made 49 arrests during the checkpoint, and the results are as follows:

7--Driving While Intoxicated
5--Failure To Wear Seat Belt
1--Child Restraint
16--Driving While Suspended/No Valid Driver’s License/Driving While Revoked
11--Non-moving Violation
6--Misdemeanor Warrant Arrests
3--Felony Warrants

Troopers also issued 25 warnings for various other traffic violations during the operation.

The objective of DWI enforcement projects is to deter drinking and driving and to make citizens aware that drinking and driving will not be tolerated.
