EMPHASIS: Colonel Ron Replogle Announces Promotion

Colonel Ron Replogle, superintendent of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, announces the following promotion effective September 1, 2011:

Sergeant Ricky D. “Rick” Herndon was promoted to the rank of lieutenant and assigned to the Professional Standards Division, General Headquarters, Jefferson City.

Herndon was appointed to the Patrol on July 1, 1989, as a member of the 61st Recruit Class. After graduating from the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy, his first assignment was to Troop B, Zone 3, Chariton and Linn counties. In 1992, he was designated back up pilot for Troop B, and served in that capacity until transferring in 2005. Herndon was promoted to corporal in 1995, and designated assistant zone supervisor, Troop B, Zone 3. In 1999, he was promoted to sergeant and designated zone supervisor of Troop B, Zone 1, Macon and Shelby counties. In 2003, Herndon transferred to the Drug and Crime Control Division’s Troop B Unit as a criminal investigator. In 2005, he transferred to the Drug and Crime Control Division’s Troop F Unit in Jefferson City.

Herndon grew up in Jamestown, MO. He graduated from Jamestown High School, in 1976. He holds an associate’s of science degree in criminal justice from Mineral Area College, Park Hills, MO. Lt. Herndon and his wife, Jennifer L. (Renken), have two grown children: Sarah and Matthew.
