EMPHASIS: Troop F Announces Results Of Sobriety Checkpoint -- Cole County

Captain Michael A. Turner, commanding officer of Troop F, Jefferson City, announces the results of a sobriety checkpoint conducted in Cole County on July 4, 2015. The checkpoint was held from 9 p.m. on July 4, 2015, to 1 a.m. on July 5, 2015. A total of 203 vehicles were contacted during the four-hour operation. Members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol made the following enforcement contacts:

1 -- Felony Drug Arrest
1 -- Felony Warrant Arrest
2 -- Misdemeanor Warrant Arrests
11 -- Warnings

The goal of DWI enforcement projects is to deter impaired driving and to make citizens aware that drinking and driving will not be tolerated. To report a suspected impaired driver dial 9-1-1 or *55 on a cellular device.

Approximately 63 percent of Missouri fatal crash victims who are required to be restrained are NOT at the time of the traffic crash. The Patrol urges motorists to protect themselves and their passengers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint.
