Captain Vincent J. Ellis, commanding officer of Troop A, reports one fatality occurred during the Christmas holiday counting period from 6 p.m., Friday, December 21, to 11:59 p.m., December 25, 2007.
Vince C. Picone, 62, of Kansas City, Missouri, died on December 22, 2007, when the vehicle he was driving slid off the right side of the roadway and struck a sign. Picone was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. The crash occurred on Interstate 435 at Shoal Creek Parkway in Clay County.
Troop A’s 13-county region accounted for 124 crashes with 21 injured occupants. Troopers arrested nine drivers for driving while intoxicated.
