EMPHASIS: Independence Man Arrested For Possession Of Child Pornography

The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control announces the arrest of Darren S. O’Dell, 46, of Independence, Missouri, on three counts of possession of child pornography, on November 4, 2015. The arrest was the result of a lengthy investigation conducted by members of the Division of Drug and Crime Control’s Digital Forensics Investigative Unit and the Missouri Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. O’Dell is being held in the Jackson County Jail. The Patrol was assisted by officers of the Independence Police Department.

The Jackson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office formally charged O’Dell with the three counts of possession of child pornography and bond was set at $50,000 cash.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol is part of the Missouri Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, which is supported by funding made available through the U.S. Department of Justice Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency. The Missouri Department of Public Safety administers the grant on behalf of the Department of Justice.

The above charges are mere accusation and are not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of these charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
