EMPHASIS: Troop B Officers To Participate In C.A.R.E. Life Saver Weekend

Captain James E. Wilt, commanding officer of Troop B, Macon, announces that Troop B officers will be participating in the statewide 2015 C.A.R.E. Life Saver Weekend in an effort to stop people from driving impaired this holiday season from December 18, 2015, through December 21, 2015. During that time period enforcement efforts will be increased and will focus on reducing deaths and injuries caused by impaired drivers.
During the Christmas and New Year’s holiday season, the Patrol encourages drivers to make sure safe driving is a priority. Troopers will be working hard throughout the holidays promoting safety on our highways.
With the possibility of winter precipitation arriving during this time of year, the Patrol also asks motorists to pay attention to weather forecasts and check the road conditions by checking the Missouri Department of Transportation website (www.mdot.org), or by calling the road condition hotline at 1-888-275-6636 before they plan to travel.
"The holiday season is a time for many celebrations, and some of those celebrations may include alcohol," stated Captain Wilt. "Losing a loved one during the holiday season is a tragedy no one should have to endure. If drinking alcohol is a part of your plans, be responsible and choose a sober driver."
Approximately 63 percent of Missouri fatal crash victims who are required to be restrained are NOT at the time of the traffic crash. The Patrol urges motorists to protect themselves and their passengers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Join us in supporting the Drive To Zero Highway Deaths. Watercraft operators should ensure that everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life And Wear It!!
