EMPHASIS: Patrol Announces Results Of Commercial Motor Vehicle Enforcement Program

Captain Ronald S. Johnson, commanding officer of Troop C, Weldon Spring, announces the results of SAFETE, an enforcement program focusing on violations of commercial motor vehicles. SAFETE was conducted on June 11, 12, and 13, in St. Charles, Franklin, Jefferson, St. Francois, and St. Louis counties. During the project, 11 troopers and five portable scale trucks focused their enforcement activities on hazardous operations of commercial motor vehicles to ensure that commercial vehicles and drivers are operating safely on the nation's highways.

As a result of the SAFETE program, the following commercial motor vehicle enforcement contacts were made:

Overweight -- 6 summonses
Driver's License Violations -- 4 summonses
Registration Violations -- 15 summonses
Equipment Violations -- 51 summonses
Seat Belt Violations -- 35 summonses
Other Violations -- 17 summonses
Drivers Placed Out-of-Service -- 13
Vehicles Placed Out-of-Service -- 81
Commercial Vehicles Inspected -- 253


Captain Johnson stated, “Enforcement of commercial motor vehicle violations is critical to the safety of the motoring public. Please assist us in our efforts by reporting careless drivers and other suspicious activities on Missouri’s roadways.”

The Patrol encourages motorists and watercraft operators to protect themselves by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint and everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life and Wear It!!!
