EMPHASIS: Highway Patrol To Offer Boating Safety Course Bass Pro Shop In Columbia, MO

Captain Gregory D. Kindle, commanding officer of Troop F Headquarters, announces a boating safety certification course will be taught at the Bass Pro Shop, in Columbia, MO, on May 18 and 19, 2012. The class will run from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on May 18, and then continue on May 19, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Students must be present both days to satisfy the requirements of the boating safety card. There will be no charge for this course. However, students are required to pre-register on-line as seating will be limited and notification may be sent in the event the course is canceled. For more information, to register for this course, or to obtain a complete listing of where other courses are being offered you may visit the Missouri State Highway Patrol website www.mshp.dps.mo.gov. Once there select the Boat Safety Education icon on the left side of the page.

Missouri law requires any person born after January 1, 1984, to carry a boating safety certification card along with a picture I.D. anytime they operate a vessel, which includes personal watercraft, on Missouri lakes. Any student who successfully passes this course will be eligible to order the boating safety certification card ($15 fee).
