EMPHASIS: Results Of DWI Saturations Conducted In Troop B During The Month Of September 2011

Captain James E. Wilt, commanding officer of Troop B, Macon, announces the results of DWI (Driving While Intoxicated) saturations conducted in Troop B during the month of September 2011.
During the month of September 2011, Troop B officers conducted DWI saturations in Schuyler and Scotland counties on September 9, 2011; in Knox County on September 10, 2011; in Clark County on September 17, 2011; and in Lewis County on September 30, 2011. The saturations began at 10:00 p.m. on these dates and concluded at 2:00 a.m. on the next day. Officers patrolled specific areas with a goal of detecting impaired drivers and other traffic violations that contribute to traffic crashes. As a result of the operations, a total of 15 arrests were made, and 103 warnings were issued. The following is a list of enforcement contacts made during the saturations:

6 -- Arrests for driving while intoxicated
3 -- Summonses issued for speed
2 -- Summonses issued for seat belt violations
2 -- Summonses issued for hazardous moving violations
1 -- Arrest for person under 21 years of age in possession of intoxicants
1 -- Felony arrest for driving while revoked

"Drinking and driving is very dangerous," stated Captain Wilt. "The Missouri State Highway Patrol is very serious about removing the impaired driver from our roadways. If drinking is a part of your plans, choose a sober driver. I would also like to encourage citizens to report suspected impaired drivers by calling the Missouri State Highway Patrol at 1-800-525-5555 or on a cellular telephone at *55."
