EMPHASIS: One Fatality Posted In Troop D During Fourth of July Holiday.

Captain Juan Villanueva, commanding officer, Troop D, announces Fourth of July weekend totals. Troop D investigated one fatality for its 18-county area. There were no fatalities in Troop D during the same holiday weekend last year.
Troopers in Troop D investigated 43 crashes, 20 involving injuries during the four-day holiday, and arrested 13 subjects for driving while intoxicated. Over the weekend, troopers directed their efforts toward enforcing speed limits, seat belt laws, and arresting intoxicated and careless drivers.
The Highway Patrol continues to promote highway safety through education and enforcement of state statutes to ensure a safe traveling summer for all who travel Missouri roadways.
Note: 2010 statistics may fluctuate due to late deaths.
