EMPHASIS: Troop I Announces Christmas, New Year's Traffic Crash And Arrest Totals


Captain Lee Ann H. Kenley, commanding officer of Troop I, Rolla, announces the traffic crash and DWI enforcement totals for both the Christmas and New Year’s counting periods for the six-county Troop I area.
During the Christmas counting period, which began at 6 p.m., Friday, December 21, 2012, and ended at 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, December 25, 2012, Troop I officers investigated 17 traffic crashes that resulted in seven injuries and no fatalities. Troopers also made seven arrests for driving while intoxicated. Over the same period in 2011, officers assigned to Troop I investigated 14 traffic crashes, which resulted in four injuries and one fatality. In 2011, six arrests were made for driving while intoxicated.
During the New Year’s counting period, which began at 6 p.m., Friday, December 28, 2012, and ended at11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, January 1, 2013, Troop I officers investigated 54 traffic crashes, which resulted in 18 injuries and no fatalities. During that period, troopers made four arrests for driving while intoxicated. During the 2012 New Year’s counting period, Troop I officers investigated 14 traffic crashes, resulting in four injuries and one fatality. They also made seven arrests for driving while intoxicated last year.
Captain Kenley stated, “With each new year, many of us will make resolutions with the hope of making life better for both ourselves and others. I encourage all Missouri motorists to make courteous and safe driving one of their resolutions.”
The Patrol encourages motorists to protect themselves from all types of hazardous drivers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Click it 4 Life!!!
