EMPHASIS: Results Of Sobriety Checkpoint In Clay County


Captain Robert L. Powell, commanding officer of Troop A, announces the results of a sobriety checkpoint which was conducted on August 21, 2009, in Clay County. The checkpoint in Clay County was a joint effort with the Kansas City Police Department.
A total of 1,721 vehicles were checked during the checkpoint. Members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested a total of eight people for driving while intoxicated and one person for driving while suspended.
Captain Powell stated, “The checkpoints are part of the continuing effort by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and other law enforcement agencies to remove intoxicated drivers from our highways.”
