EMPHASIS: Sobriety Checkpoint Results

Captain Vincent J. Ellis, Commanding Officer of Troop A, announces the results of two sobriety checkpoints conducted in Clay County by members of the Smithville Police Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The checkpoints were held on southbound U.S. Highway 169 and 144th Street.
Total arrests for the checkpoints included five driving while intoxicated arrests, one speed arrest, one hazardous moving arrest, and one felony arrest.
Captain Ellis stated, “Removing intoxicated drivers is a high priority for the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Our goal is to make travel on Missouri highways safer for the motoring public. If you drink alcohol, please do not drive.”
