EMPHASIS: Results Of Selected Traffic Enforcement Programs Conducted By Troop B Officers During The Month of March 2010



Captain James E. Wilt, commanding officer of Troop B, Macon, announces the results of Selective Traffic Enforcement Programs conducted on U.S. Highways 61 and 63, throughout the Troop B area, on March 7, and 28, 2010. During these enforcement operations, which were held from noon to 8:00 p.m. each day, extra officers were scheduled to patrol the affected areas with a goal of detecting hazardous moving and speed violations that contribute to traffic crashes. As a result of the three enforcement operations, 12 officers issued 101 traffic citations, made two felony drug arrests, one misdemeanor drug arrest, one arrest for driving while intoxicated, and issued 121 warnings. Totals of citations issued during the enforcement efforts include:

66 -- speed violation citations
18 -- seat belt violation citations
1 -- stop sign violation citation
2 -- child restraint violation citations
2-- hazardous moving violation citations
6 -- non-moving violation citations
2 -- driver’s license violation citations
4 -- insurance violation citations


"Special enforcement operations such as these are effective in reducing traffic crashes," stated Captain Wilt.
