EMPHASIS: Results Of DWI Sobriety Checkpoint In Barry County


Captain Juan Villanueva, commanding officer of Troop D, Springfield, announces the results of a DWI checkpoint conducted in Barry County, on Saturday, May 3, 2014. During the operation, officers from the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Barry County Sheriff's Department were assigned to conduct a sobriety checkpoint in a continued effort to remove intoxicated drivers from the highways. The following is a list of enforcement contacts made during the operation:

1--Driving While Intoxicated Arrest.
3--Failure To Wear Seat Belt Summonses.
2--Child Restraint Summonses.
1--Driver License Violation.
2--Insurance Violations.
4--Non-Moving Traffic Offenses.
1--Misdemeanor Warrant Arrest.
2--Misdemeanor Drug Arrests.

Officers also issued 29 warnings for various other traffic violations during the operation.

Captain Villanueva states, “One of the duties of law enforcement is to enforce all laws and apprehend violators. The objective of DWI enforcement projects is to deter drinking and driving, and for those citizens who choose to drink and drive, this behavior will not be tolerated.”

In support of "The Drive To ZERO Highway Deaths," the Patrol encourages motorists to protect themselves and their passengers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Watercraft operators should ensure that everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life And Wear It!!
