Captain Ronald S. Johnson, commanding officer Troop C, St. Louis, is pleased to announce the results of a recent enforcement detail “Operation A.R.R.E.S.T” (Alcohol Related Response Enforcement Strike Team). The purpose of Operation A.R.R.E.S.T. is to increase the motoring public’s awareness of the potential hazards of operating a motor vehicle while in an intoxicated condition.

Operation A.R.R.E.S.T. was conducted on Friday, November 15, 2008, from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m., Saturday, November 16, 2008, in St. Charles County. This eight-hour project was conducted by six officers, who focused their enforcement efforts on identifying hazardous motor vehicle operations and impaired driving conditions, in an effort to reduce the number and severity of traffic crashes. During the operation, 52 arrests were made and 49 warnings were issued. Among the arrests were 13 subjects for driving while intoxicated, 2 for drug violations and 2 for misdemeanor criminal offenses. Additional summons issued included, 11 for moving violations, 12 for seat belt violations and 12 for non-moving violations.

Captain Johnson stated, “This detail was another successful operation in removing intoxicated drivers from our roadways. Through enforcement efforts such as Operation A.R.R.E.S.T., we will continue our efforts at reducing the number of traffic crashes and fatalities that occur on our roadways. During the upcoming holiday season, please remember to always designate a sober driver, obey the speed limit and make sure everyone is properly restrained in your vehicle.”
