EMPHASIS: Results Of A DWI Saturation Conducted In Adair And Macon Counties

Captain James E. Wilt, commanding officer of Troop B, Macon, announces the results of a DWI (driving while intoxicated) saturation conducted in Adair and Macon counties. The saturation was held from 11:00 p.m. on May 9, 2014, to 3:00 a.m. on May 10, 2014. During this enforcement operation, officers patrolled specific areas with a goal of detecting impaired drivers and other traffic violations that contribute to traffic crashes. As a result of the operation officers made four arrests, and issued eight traffic citations and 30 warnings. The following is a list of enforcement contacts made during the saturation:

1 -- Arrest for driving while intoxicated.
3 -- Arrests for misdemeanor warrants.
3 -- Citations were issued for exceeding the speed limit.
3 -- Citations were issued for seat belt violations.
1 -- Citation was issued for a child restraint violation.
1 -- Citation was issued for an insurance violation.

"The Patrol will conduct more traffic enforcement programs in the upcoming months," stated Captain Wilt. "The Missouri State Highway Patrol is very serious about removing the impaired driver from our roadways. If drinking is a part of your plans, choose a sober designated driver."
In support of "The Drive To ZERO Highway Deaths," the Patrol encourages motorists to protect themselves and their passengers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Watercraft operators should ensure that everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life And Wear It!!
