EMPHASIS: Troop C Is Prepared For 2011-2012 School Year

Captain Ronald S. Johnson, commanding officer of Troop C, Weldon Spring, announces the results of the Troop C area school bus inspections conducted during the months of February, March, and April of this year. Each spring, Missouri school buses are inspected by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, and again 60 days prior to the beginning of the school year by a certified inspector mechanic.

During the 2011 annual school bus inspections, the Missouri State Highway Patrol inspected over 12,000 school buses. In the Troop C area, 3872 school buses were inspected and 88.3 % passed the rigid inspection requirements. All buses that did not pass the initial inspections were re-inspected after necessary repairs were made to meet the inspection requirements. Those Troop C area school districts receiving a 100% pass rate on the initial school bus inspection include: Altenburg 48; Christ Community Lutheran School; Confluence Academy; Festus R-VI; Franklin County R-II; Gateway State School #70; Grace Chapel Lutheran; Grandview R-II; Holy Family-New haven; Louisiana R-II; Maplewood-Richmond Heights; Missouri School for the Blind; Special Acres State School #15; Marceline R-V; St. Clement; Ste. Genevieve R-II; Sunrise R-IX; University City; West County R-IV and Windsor C-1.

The Troop C area has103 school districts, of those, 47 districts received the coveted "Total Fleet Excellence Award" for approval ratings of 90% or higher with no buses placed out-of-service.

“The school districts in the Troop C area are very much prepared for the upcoming school year and I would like to commend our Motor Vehicle Inspection and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Divisions for a job well done,” stated Captain Johnson. “Parents of school age children should feel comfortable that Troop C and the area school districts do a very good job in insuring that all school buses are in good mechanical condition.”
