EMPHASIS: Troop I to Conduct Sobriety Spotcheck in Dent County
Captain Randy Becker, commanding officer of Troop I, Missouri State Highway Patrol, announces that troopers will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint in Dent County during the month of July. The checkpoint will be staged in an area and on a particular highway where a larger number of alcohol related traffic crashes occurred last year.
Captain Becker urges all motorist passing through the checkpoint to use extra caution by slowing down, keeping their eyes on the road and vehicles ahead for any sudden stopping, and to follow the directions of the officers. Motorists passing through a checkpoint should also have their driver’s license and insurance papers ready for inspection by one of the troopers.
Captain Becker stated: “Too many people are seriously injured or killed on Missouri streets and highways every year by the drunk driver. Sobriety checkpoints, such as the one which will be held in Dent County, have proven to be a good tool in helping us combat this needless danger on our roads”.
