EMPHASIS: Results Of 2011 School Bus Inspections In Troop B Area

Captain James E. Wilt, commanding officer of Troop B, Macon, announces the results of the Troop B area school bus inspections conducted during the months of February, March, and April of this year. Each spring, Missouri school buses are inspected by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, and again 60 days prior to the beginning of the school year by a certified inspector mechanic.
During the 2011 annual school bus inspections, the Missouri State Highway Patrol inspected over 12,000 school buses. In the Troop B area, 494 school buses were inspected and 89.5 % passed the rigid inspection requirements. All buses that did not pass the initial inspections were re-inspected after necessary repairs were made to meet the inspection requirements. Those Troop B area school districts receiving a 100% pass rate on the initial school bus inspection include: Adair County R-1; Bevier C-4; Brookfield R-III; Brunswick R-II; Callao C-8; Canton R-V; Green City R-I; Hannibal 60; Keytesville R-III; Kirksville R-III; Knox County R-I; Lewis County C-1; Linn County R-I; Luray 33; Macon County R-I; Marceline R-V; Marion County R-II; Middle Grove C-1; Milan C-2; Moberly Schools; Newtown-Harris R-III; Renick R-V; Revere C-3; and Shelby County R-IV.
“There is no doubt that school buses haul the most precious cargo on Missouri highways,” stated Captain Wilt. “Parents of school age children should feel comfortable that Missouri school systems do a very good job in insuring that all school buses are in good mechanical condition.”
