EMPHASIS: Retirement Of Sergeant Anthony J. “Tony” Mattox -- Troop F

Captain Michael A. Turner, commanding officer of Troop F, Jefferson City, announces effective July 1, 2016, Troop F Sergeant Anthony J. “Tony” Mattox retired after serving over 26 years with the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Sergeant Mattox began his career with the Patrol on January 1, 1990, and was a member of the 62nd Missouri State Highway Patrol Recruit Class. After graduating from the Patrol Academy, he was assigned to Troop F, Zone 9, which serves Montgomery County. On October 1, 1996, he was promoted to corporal and designated the assistant zone supervisor of Zone 9. On October 1, 1999, he was promoted to sergeant and designated the zone supervisor of Zone 9. On July 1, 2009, Mattox transferred into the Patrol's Motorcycle Unit and was designated zone supervisor for Zone 13, Special Enforcement Team. It is from this position that he retired. During his career with the Patrol, he served as a criminal interdictor, field training officer, EVOC instructor, and SWAT team member. Mattox is a 2015 graduate of the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command, Class 382. He also served on several special details including the governor’s inauguration security details; executive presidential and vice-presidential protection details; University of Missouri football detail; Missouri State Fair detail; the Joplin, MO, tornado detail; and Ferguson, MO, detail.

Sergeant Mattox is a native of Memphis, TN. Prior to his appointment to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, he served as a deputy at the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department, Johnson County, Missouri. He is married to Judy (LeMasters). They have four children, and six grandchildren.
