EMPHASIS: Troop E Announces July Fourth Holiday Totals


Captain George E. Ridens, commanding officer of Troop E, Poplar Bluff, announces the July Fourth traffic crash and enforcement totals for the Troop E area, which consists of 13 counties in Southeast Missouri. Troop E officers investigated 39 traffic crashes, which resulted in zero fatalities and 10 injuries. Troop E officers working on Interstate 55 participated in the 20-Mile Trooper project. Troopers assigned to this operation worked 12-hour shifts to patrol 20-mile intervals on major highways and interstates in Southeast Missouri on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 and Sunday, July 7, 2013. Totals from this operation include:

413--speed summonses
237--seat belt summonses
22--child restraint summonses
21--driving while intoxicated arrests
31--drug arrests
1,504--warnings
389--motorist assists

Captain Ridens said, “Even though this major holiday period has ended, we want to urge motorists to continue to drive safely and always wear their seat belts.”

The Patrol encourages motorists and watercraft operators to protect themselves by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint and everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life and Wear It!!!
