EMPHASIS: Troop I Announces Results Of DWI Saturation

Captain Randy L. Becker, commanding officer of Troop I, announces the results of a DWI saturation patrol conducted in Crawford County from 7 p.m., June 6, 2008 until 3 a.m., June 7, 2008. During the operation, troopers placed special emphasis on patrolling those highways where in the past a higher number of impaired drivers were either involved in a traffic crash or arrested for DWI.

During the eight-hour enforcement operation troopers stopped 36 vehicles. The following is a breakdown of the arrests made during the saturation:

DWI: 2
Speeding: 3
Careless & Imprudent Driving: 1
Failure To Wear A Seat Belt: 5
Hazardous Moving Violations: 2
Non-moving Traffic Offenses: 3
Driver’s License Violations: 2
No Proof Of Insurance: 3
Minor in Possession of Alcohol: 2
Misdemeanor Drug Offenses: 4
Felony Drug Offenses: 2
Warnings Issued: 29

“Too many people are seriously injured or killed on Missouri’s streets and highways every year by drunk drivers or those under the influence of illegal drugs,” said Captain Becker. “I hope that these saturation patrols may serve as another important tool in fighting this serious problem.”
