EMPHASIS: Troop C Memorial Day Weekend Enforcement Totals



Captain Ronald S. Johnson, commanding officer of Troop C, Weldon Spring, announces the 2015 Memorial Weekend traffic crash and enforcement totals for the Troop C area. Troopers participated in Operation C.A.R.E. (Combined Accident Reduction Effort) during the holiday weekend. As an added enforcement effort, Troop C officers conducted a 20-Mile Trooper operation on Interstate 70 and Interstate 44. Troopers investigated 63 traffic crashes which resulted in one fatality during the Memorial Day weekend.

The 2015 Memorial Day holiday weekend counting period was from 6 p.m. on Friday, May 22, 2015, through 11:59 p.m. on Monday, May 25, 2015. Enforcement totals are as follow:

Motor vehicle crashes investigated -- 63
Fatalities -- 1
Unrestrained Fatalities -- 1
Speed -- 888 summonses
Seat Belt -- 355 summonses
Child Restraint -- 13 summonses
Hazardous Moving Violations -- 177 summonses
Driver's License/Insurance/Registration Violations -- 409 summonses
Hazardous Equipment Violations -- 33 summonses
Non-moving Violations -- 85 summonses
Misdemeanor Arrests -- 188 arrests
Felony Arrests -- 44 arrests
DWI Arrests -- 25 arrests
Warnings -- 1,742
Motorist Assists -- 549

“Even though this major holiday period has ended, we want to urge motorists to continue to drive safely and please take the job of driving seriously. Obey the speed limit, pay attention, buckle up, and do not drink and drive,” stated Captain Johnson.




Approximately 63 percent of Missouri fatal crash victims who are required to be restrained are NOT at the time of the traffic crash. The Patrol urges motorists to protect themselves and their passengers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint.
