EMPHASIS: Results Of Sobriety Checkpoint In St. Louis County


Captain Ronald S. Johnson, commanding officer of Troop C, announces the results of a sobriety checkpoint conducted on Saturday evening, May 3, 2014. The checkpoint was held from 10 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, to 3 a.m. on Sunday, May 4, and was located at Missouri Highway 364 west of Missouri Highway 141. The location was determined by past arrests, incidents, and traffic crashes in the county.

A total of 1,090 vehicles were stopped during this five-hour operation. Members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol made the following arrests:

Driving While Intoxicated -- 9 arrests
Driving While Suspended/Revoked -- 1 summons
Non-Moving Violations -- 1 summons
Seat Belt -- 1 summons
Misdemeanor Drug Arrest -- 5 arrests
Felony Drug Arrest -- 1 arrest

Captain Johnson stated, "The focus of law enforcement is to enforce all laws and apprehend violators. The goal of DWI enforcement projects is to deter impaired driving and to make citizens aware that drinking and driving will not be tolerated."

In support of “The Drive To Zero Highway Deaths,” the Patrol encourages motorists to protect themselves and their passengers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Watercraft operators should ensure that everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life And Wear It!!
