EMPHASIS: Results Of DWI Saturation Conducted In Cole County

Captain Michael A. Turner, commanding officer, Troop F, Jefferson City, announces the results of a DWI (driving while intoxicated) saturation conducted in Cole County. The saturation was conducted from 7:00 p.m. on May 15, 2015, to 3:00 a.m. on May 16, 2015. During the enforcement operation, officers patrolled specific areas with a goal of detecting impaired drivers and other traffic violations that contribute to traffic crashes. The following is a list of enforcement contacts for the operation:

1 -- Speed Violation
2 -- Seat Belt Violations
1 -- Uninsured Motorist Offense
1 -- Non-Moving Citation
12 -- Warnings
12 -- Vehicles Stopped

Captain Turner stated, “Motorists traveling on Missouri’s roadways can expect that members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol will be striving to do all we can to rid our roads of unsafe drivers. Please help us by being the safest driver you can possibly be. Always pay attention to the task of driving, and please wear your seat belt at all times.”

Approximately 63 percent of Missouri fatal crash victims who are required to be restrained are NOT at the time of the traffic crash. The Patrol urges motorists to protect themselves and their passengers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint.
