EMPHASIS: Results Of DWI Saturation And Sobriety Checkpoint Conducted By Troop B Officers During The Month Of August 2012


Captain James E. Wilt, commanding officer of Troop B, Macon, announces the results of a DWI enforcement operation conducted in Macon County, and a DWI sobriety checkpoint conducted in Randolph County during the month of August 2012.
On Friday, August 10, 2012, and Saturday, August 11, 2012, from 11p.m. until 3 a.m., Troop B officers conducted a DWI saturation in Macon County. During the enforcement operation, troopers patrolled specific areas with a goal of detecting impaired drivers and other traffic violations that contribute to traffic crashes. As a result of the operation, officers made seven arrests and issued 29 warnings. The following is a list of enforcement contacts made during the saturation:
1 -- Arrest for driving while intoxicated
2 -- Citations were issued for speed
1 -- Citation was issued for a seat belt violation
1 -- Citation was issued for a hazardous moving violation
1 -- Citation was issued for a non-moving violation
1 -- Citation was issued for a license violation

On Saturday, August 18, 2012, members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Moberly Police Department, and the Randolph County Sheriff's Department conducted a sobriety checkpoint at the intersection of Missouri Route A and Missouri Route AA, in Randolph County. As a result of the checkpoint, which began at 11 p.m. on August 18, 2012, and concluded at 3 a.m. on August 19, 2012, officers checked 141 vehicles, made seven arrests, and issued 24 warnings. The following is a list of enforcement contacts made during the checkpoint:
2 -- Arrests for misdemeanor drug violations
3 -- Citations were issued for insurance violations
1 -- Citation was issued for a non-moving violation
1 -- Citation was issued for a license violation

"Missouri is currently experiencing a 15% increase in traffic fatalities," stated Captain Wilt. "Please drive safely, see that all occupants in your vehicle are properly restrained, and never drink and drive."
