EMPHASIS: Missing 81-Year-Old Randolph County Resident Located

At 11:12 p.m., on June 27, 2015, Troop B officers were advised of a missing 81-year-old Clifton Hill, Missouri, resident. Initial information determined the subject was suffering from a medical condition and had been seen last at her residence at 6:00 p.m. that evening, and her vehicle was missing. Members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Randolph County Sheriff’s Department, Chariton County Sheriff’s Department, and the Moberly Police Department began an extensive search of the area. After receiving a report of a car horn honking in the area near the missing subject’s residence, officers narrowed their search, and at 3:24 a.m., on June 28, 2015, a Patrol rescue helicopter equipped with a FLIR search unit (forward looking infrared radar) located the missing vehicle in a field. The elderly subject was found uninjured and was safely returned to family members.
Approximately 63 percent of Missouri fatal crash victims who are required to be restrained are NOT at the time of the traffic crash. The Patrol urges motorists to protect themselves and their passengers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint.
