EMPHASIS: Results Of Commercial Vehicle Special Enforcement Operation Conducted In Troop B


Captain John W. Elliott, commanding officer of Troop B, Macon, announces the results of a commercial vehicle special enforcement operation conducted in the Troop B area from May 15, 2007 through May 17, 2007. This enforcement operation was federally funded by the Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program (MCSAP). During the enforcement operation, fourteen commercial vehicle officers conducted commercial vehicle safety inspections, concentrating their efforts in Clark, Lewis, Marion, Ralls, Monroe and Randolph counties.
As a result of the enforcement operation, 130 driver and vehicle inspections were conducted. From those inspections, three commercial motor vehicle drivers and 13 commercial vehicles were placed out of service. Commercial motor vehicle officers issued 44 citations and 123 warnings. Of the citations issued, five were issued for overweight violations, two for logbook violations, four for driver’s license violations, one for an over dimension violation, six for equipment violations, 12 for vehicle license violations, four for international fuel tax violations, and 10 were issued for other non-moving violations.
